Tequila Sunrise Cocktail Dessin - A Bright, Artful Classic

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 oz (60 ml) blanco tequila (smooth, clean flavor works best)
  • 4–5 oz (120–150 ml) fresh orange juice (ideally hand-squeezed)
  • 1/2–3/4 oz (15–22 ml) grenadine (quality matters for color and taste)
  • Ice (enough to fill a highball glass)
  • Orange slice and a cherry (optional garnish)

Method

  1. Fill a tall highball glass to the top with ice. Cold and full is key for clean layers.
  2. Pour in the tequila over the ice.
  3. Add the orange juice, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Give it a quick, gentle stir.
  4. Slowly drizzle the grenadine down the inside of the glass or over the back of a spoon. It will sink and spread, creating the sunrise effect.
  5. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry. Don’t stir after the grenadine if you want to keep the gradient.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy the colors before taking the first sip.
