Strawberry Basil Margarita Large Batch - Fresh, Bright, and Party-Ready

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 12 servings

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries (about 1 1/2 pounds, hulled)
  • Fresh basil (1 packed cup of leaves, plus extra for garnish)
  • Blanco tequila (750 ml bottle)
  • Triple sec or Cointreau (1 cup)
  • Fresh limes (10 to 12 limes for about 1 1/2 cups juice)
  • Simple syrup (1/2 to 3/4 cup, to taste)
  • Kosher salt or salt-sugar mix for rimming glasses
  • Ice (plenty for serving)
  • Optional: Club soda for a lighter, spritzy finish

Method

  1. Make the strawberry puree: Blend strawberries with 1/2 cup simple syrup until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve if you want a silkier texture.
  2. Juice the limes: Squeeze until you have about 1 1/2 cups fresh lime juice. Fresh is key here for that clean, bright flavor.
  3. Combine the base: In a large pitcher, add tequila, triple sec, strawberry puree, and lime juice. Stir well.
  4. Add the basil: Gently bruise the basil leaves between your fingers and stir them into the pitcher. Let the mixture sit in the fridge for 30 to 60 minutes to infuse.
  5. Taste and adjust: After infusing, taste. Add more simple syrup for sweetness or more lime juice for extra tang.
  6. Strain out basil: For a clean look and smoother sip, strain out the basil leaves before serving. Or leave a few for a rustic, aromatic touch.
  7. Prepare the glasses: Run a lime wedge around the rim, dip in salt or a salt-sugar blend, and fill with ice.
  8. Serve: Pour over ice. Garnish with a basil leaf and a sliced strawberry. For a lighter drink, top with a splash of club soda.
