Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole milk (or 1½ cups milk + ½ cup half-and-half for extra creaminess)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped (or chocolate chips)
  • 1–2 tablespoons granulated sugar, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 ounces Baileys Irish Cream (about 1/2 cup), divided for two servings
  • Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Warm the milk: In a small saucepan over medium heat, add milk (and half-and-half if using). Heat until steaming, not boiling.
  2. Whisk in cocoa and sugar: Sprinkle in cocoa powder and sugar. Whisk until smooth with no lumps.
  3. Melt the chocolate: Add the chopped chocolate and a pinch of salt. Stir until fully melted and glossy.
  4. Add vanilla: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Stir in Baileys: Pour in Baileys and whisk gently. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  6. Serve: Divide into two mugs. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings if you like. Enjoy warm.
