Wash and dry the apples. Keep the skin on for extra fiber and crunch.
Core the apples. Use an apple corer if you have one. If not, slice the apples first, then cut out the center from each slice with a small knife or round cutter.
Slice into rings. Aim for 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch thick slices.
Thinner slices can tear; thicker slices can be hard to bite.
Prevent browning (optional). Lightly brush or toss the slices with lemon juice.
Mix your spread (optional). Stir peanut butter with a drizzle of honey and a pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
Spread the peanut butter. Add a generous layer to half of the apple slices. Use about 1–2 teaspoons per slice.
Add toppings. Sprinkle chocolate chips, granola, seeds, or nuts over the peanut butter. A tiny pinch of sea salt brightens the flavors.
Top and press. Place a second apple slice on top to make a sandwich.
Press gently so the toppings stick.
Serve right away. Enjoy immediately for the best texture and color.
